Texas Instruments LM35DZ - temperature - hmjswt - 26-03-2016

Hi,

My first Pinguino project.
Measuring temperature with the Texas Instruments LM35DZ.

Hoi Henk,
Congratulations.
I see it works great now.
What will be your next project ?

Hoi regis,

I think it will be a sun radiometer.
I am going to use a little solar cell and a MicroChip MCP6021 op-amp. With a dual ( + and - ) power supply.
I have already made one for the Arduino and the LaunchPad.
But there is some work to be done.
On a very bright day's the cell gets to exited and is sending the ADC in overload.
You can change that with a small feedback resistor for the op-amp but then you are loosing detail on the lower ranges.
I am thinking of using a MUX to switch different resistors or using a digital potentiometer.
And a sun photometer with a LED as light sensor is another option.
How about a LDR, photo transistor etc.

I keep you informed.

I did a Pinguino Solar Tracker some years ago.
I mounted the small solar panel on a servo motor to control the inclining direction.
Both were driven by a step-motor to follow the sun.
I used 2 UV LEDs separated by a piece of paper and four 2N3904 as light sensor.

That is nice.
I have seen projects like that.
I think I will build one myself, in time.
This will be a very interesting project.
When in a couple of day's my hobby budget will be refreshed I will order one or two 45K50's.
I am beginning to like that chip very much.
Maybe it is better to start a new tread for this new project.

Do you think the forum people will be interested in my Processing codes for the LM35 and the sun project?

RE: Texas Instruments LM35DZ - temperature - regis - 02-04-2016

I think it's a very interesting project.
You can make a link to your site or publish the project on the forum or even better add an article on the Wiki.
There is already a Processing page but it's still empty : http://wiki.pinguino.cc/index.php/With_Processing

RE: Texas Instruments LM35DZ - temperature - hmjswt - 02-04-2016

Ok, I put some text on the Wiki Processing page.
How can I access it from the main Wiki page?

Great.
There is already a link at the end of the page :

Hi hmjswt,
What interface do you use between Processing and your 45k50 ? I'm interested to know it because I worked a bit on this interface. See http://forum.pinguino.cc/showthread.php?tid=4267.
Perhaps can we share about this topic.

Hallo André,

It is just one way communication from the 45K50 to Processing.
I use a Serial to USB interface and / or a Serial to RS232C (old stile 9 pin) interface.
Nothing fancy. Just pushing raw ADC data to Processing to convert to temperature and display on monitor.
