I must be overlooking something... From the schematic D2(BUT) appears to be connected to both pin46 (RD0) and pin52 (RD4), which would mean those pins are connected together.

Explain, please!

indeed this is confusing for beginners port RD0 and RD4 are connected together but note that they are INPUTs at reset
our engineers wanted to make D0-D6 on sequential bits on PORT D on other hand they though it's good to have the button on interrupt
