Pinguino inside
A Dragoon with pinguino inside.

Picture and video

Uses:
- a serial link connected to a 533MHz receiver.
- AnalogWrite for the eyes blinding.
- DigitalWrite to control a 12V@2A solid state relay connected to the electro-valve.

The kids have loved this.

How much batteries did you use for the whole day?
Have you used a electric pump for the water?

Hi Olivier,

I have used a single 12 battery, 7AH or so.
In fact I had one other in backup, but we did not used it.

No electric pump for the water. It was manual pump.

We will have to update it for the next fest in two years from now.

An idea for an update: measure the voltage of the battery. And when the dragon get out of power, he could cry for help. Big Grin

Some ideas for the next fest :
- moving head to follow targets (children Big Grin) and/or random movements
- electric water pump (http://www.instructables.com/id/diy-small-water-pump/) to control water flow.
- alarm when water tank is empty
...

Hi all,

Thanks for providing new ideas. We have two years before the next run.

It was a "Medieval fest" with lot of craftman, old dances, battle sword... I have to follow some kind of rules not to make it to much modern..Angel

Yes, I've used 1W power leds (on headsink) 3.3V@300mA. This is were I've used the AnalogWrite().

On top of the improvements for the next time:
- Sound: I have to sync eyes with dragon jet with sound (I intend to use SOMO 14D Module).
- Movement: I will use two servos to position either the full head (but I could have concern of mass) or just the dragon jet.
- Transmitter: I will build a brand new 433Mhz Tx pad, with more combinaison (especialy a XY pad).
- more complex sequences.
- solar powered (why not).

Any reference to water pump (no more than 12V supply) or electro-valve is more than welcome.

A pump of a car's windscreen washer system. Have a look at ebay (new one starts at 8 EURO). Or ask a friendly mechanic, if he has an old one.

A new realaese have been built for 2014.

This includes a brand new Pingiuno DIY Board, with all the led and control on it.

This board (called ANIMA01) has the folowing characteristics:
- Dual 2A/5V PMOS control (eyes LED 300mA)
- Dual 2A/12V PMOS control (electro-vane)
- Dual 600mA/12V motor control (not used yet)
- Dual Servo output (not uesed yet)
- an extention connector to connect modules.
- 5V generation internal or external.
- 453MHz receiver
- Temperature sensor (not used)
- Batery (Pb) volatge sensor and Solar cell charging control (not used yet)

- SOMO 14D voice module. This allows the Dragon to play sound in sync with the water jet and the eye blinking.

If somebody is interested by the schematic or even the full DesignSperk PCB 6.0 file (to make its own modification) he just have to ask for it.
If somebody is interested by the SOMO 14D routine, just ask.
