an open source Microchip PIC programmer
i make myself one and i works!, at least i can program the pinguino bootloader for my PIC18F2550
PS: maybe someone with skill and time, add the the device support for the PIC32mx250.

Hardly. Olimex PICKIT3 programmer is so afordable that it is not worth the effort. But you never know Smile

Where I live programmers, boards, electronics and pretty much everything is really expensive, so buying a programmer as a hobbyist or student is almost imposible. That one looks like the Pickit 2. I made a clone of it and it works just fine. It wasn't so hard to build and I am confortable with the result.
